S2/IAPinh is a conjugate, which consist of an inhibitor for the apoptosis protein inhibitor (IAPinh) and a ligand for sigma 2 SW43. S2/IAPinh exhibits an anti-proliferative and apoptotic-inducing effect through degradation of the cellular inhibitor for apoptosis protein (clAP-1)[1].

In Vitro

S2/IAPinh (0-100 μM) exhibits cytotoxicity in cancer cells Human pancreatic cancer cell lines AsPC-1, HPAC and MiaPaCa-2, mouse pancreatic cancer cell lines KP2 and human ovarian cancer cell lines OVCAR3/8 with IC50s from 4.6 to 12.8 μM, and induces apoptosis in HPAC and OVCAR8 through activation of caspase 3 and caspase 8[1].

S2/IAPinh (25 µmol/kg/day, i.p. for 21 days) inhibits tumor growth and improves the survival rate in KP-2 xenograft C57BL/6 mice and OVCAR8 xenograft athymic nude mice without signicifiant toxicity[1].
